Cold and rain was the theme for our ride today. We woke up to 58 degrees and light rain. As the morning progressed the rain picked up and was steady for about 3 hours. Fortunately the wind was not a factor and the ride was only 45 miles with a little over 1,500 ft of elevation. We arrived in Stanford around noon and of course the weather started to clear. Temps stayed in the 60s and the wind picked up considerably. Laura and I took a short tour of Stanford. A nice little town with lots of flowers. At our map meeting this morning we were told that the wildfires in the Cascades and even Idaho make affect our route. Adventure Cycling headquarters is working on an alternate route if the fires can't be controlled. Right now highway 20 is closed. A diversion will mean a 190 mile detour. A decision will have to be made next week.
We were swamped by flies ar dinner but there was a pretty sunset.
