Aug 12 North Park Campground, Dickenson, ND

This morning we woke up at our usual time but it was before sunrise with the temperature around 50 degrees.  It was probably the coldest night of the trip to date.  We were glad that we would be crossing time zones this morning into Mountain time.  It will get dark earlier at night but we will have sun in the morning.   We encountered a detour that could have sent us off route for miles but Monte was able to negotiate with the construction crew to let us cut through the construction zone.  The day was 54 miles with just a 4 mph wind.  The scenery was similar to previous days despite the fact that we were in the badlands.  We are at a private campground with running water, showers and laundry.  Almost all the comforts of home.  No railroads nearby but there is an oil Derrick within 50 yards of our tent site.  Clouds are moving in and we expect a rainy night with rain continuing until noon tomorrow.
