Aug 31, Day 78, Two Rivers Campground, Noxon, MT

This was a surprisingly scenic day today.  Our route has generally gone north and west for the past two weeks.   We took a southern track today.  We rode south through the Cabinet Mountains and enjoyed some pretty mountain and water views.  We took a side hike to see the Kootenai water falls.   Our campground is surrounded by mountains and sits next to the Cabinet River Gorge.  The weather today was cool to start but warmed up nicely to 72 in the afternoon.   I think we can expect cool nights and warm days for the remainder of our tour.

Aug 30, Day 77, Sandman Hotel, Libby, MT

Today was a chaotic day.  Thunderstorms came in during the night bringing steady rain for most of the day.   There is no way to break camp in pouring rain without getting drenched.  With a high in the 50s it made for quite a chilly day.  About half of us chose to shuttle into Libby and get a hotel so we could dry out.  The Sandman motel was about half a mile from the RV park so we booked a room there. Our room was big enough for us to set up our tent to dry.  Not the greatest motel but it beats sleeping in a cold, wet tent.

Aug 29, Day 76, Rexford Bench Park, Rexford, MT

Today was the first time the smell of smoke was noticeable.  There were fires in the area in the past. The weather was clear and sunny with a mild 5 mph wind.  The landscape was wooded with an occasional hayfield. We saw the Cabinet Mountains in the distance. We are camping in Rexford Bench park.
