Aug 19, Super 8 Motel, Lewistown, MT

Our day started with breakfast in the basement of the Baptist Church some of our group slept in.  Laura and I stayed at the Northern motel.  We biked out this morning with temps in the mid 50s and a cool northern 10 mph wind.  Overcast skies and occasional light rain made us glad we were wearing multiple layers.  The sun finally broke through around noon and warmed us up.  Still biking down route 200, this time for 54 miles, we did see some changes in the landscape.  There was a new type of wildflower lining the highway.   The hills gave way to the Judith mountain range.  It is nothing compared to the Rockies, which we will see down the trail, but we did reach a little more than 4,000 ft of altitude.  Laura and I stopped for lunch at the top so we could enjoy the view.  We enjoyed the 6 mile descent into Lewistown even more.  Tomorrow is a layover day so we will have a chance to explore the town named after Meriwether Lewis.
