We knew today would be a long day since it was almost 74 miles and over 2,000 ft of elevation. What we did not anticipate was the 12 to 14 mph headwinds we encountered. It turned out to be one of our toughest days yet. We all arrived to our camping spot exhausted. We rode all day on route 46 west which is on record as the longest, straightest paved road in north America. Route 46 goes for 121 miles with barely a wiggle. The landscape was pretty but very similar to yesterday. Because our ride was so long and there was nowhere to get water, our van met us at the 50 mile mark so we could fill our water bottles. We set up camp in a person's backyard. The owner is cyclist friendly and lets cyclists stay at no cost. A bathroom and shower is provided, however it is really not adequate for a group our size.

Finally the Contenital Divide...other side should be all down hill, right!
