Today was a chill day for us. It was our last full day in Croatia. We started it off with breakfast at a restaurant just outside of our hotel. I had the American breakfast which was fruit pancakes. The pancakes were not like those in the US, they were more dense like a heavy cake. Laura had something similar to a breakfast burrito.
Laura seized on the opportunity to spend our last few euros so we didn't have to take them home with us. She did such a good job spending euros that she wanted to do it again, so she went to the ATM to get more. Actually twice. She made friends with the vendors on the street near our hotel. It seems that a few of them live above their store. Most shops are open from May to October then shut down for the winter. Some even make the items they are selling and blend them with other items purchased throughout Croatia.
We got to know the desk clerk in our hotel. Daniella immigrated from Russia 4 years ago and married a Croatian. She speaks English, French, Croatian and of course Russian. She said it is very expensive to travel to Russian now due restrictions because of the Ukranian war. There are no longer direct flights from Split to Moscow. Travelers have to go through a third country like Turkey which adds to the expense.
We spent the evening packing our clothes and our new souveniers to get ready for our departure.
