Today we left Minnesota and entered North Dakota, our 12th state of the ride. It was 53 miles of mostly flat roads with a wind at our back. We raced against time as inclement weather was due to arrive in mid afternoon. In Fargo, we crossed the Red River which is one of the few rivers which flow north. There was also a park which had a tribute to Roger Maris, the famous Yankee home run hitter. He grew up in Fargo and was buried there. Laura and I decided to skip camping with the group and booked a room at a nearby hotel. Since tomorrow is a layover day, we will stay at the hotel for two nights. Even better the hotel has a heated indoor pool that Laura can enjoy. We biked to camp for dinner and another storm cell hit. Lightning knocked out power to the pavillion we were eating in so we had to wash dishes using light from flashlights. The storm looked like it would last all night so we had to bike back to our hotel in the rain. One street was under 18" of water. Fortunately we were able get around it but we still got soaked from the rain. Good thing we had a warm hotel room waiting for us.
