Aug 15, Makoshika State Park, Glendive, MT

Today was a day that was noteworthy in several ways.  We woke to 53 degree coolness and ended with 97 degree heat. This is the hottest day of our trip.  We said goodbye to North Dakota and entered Montana, the 13th state of our tour.  We also passed the 3,000 mile mark, leaving about 1,300 miles to go.  We biked on the shoulder of a highway with an 80 mph speed limit.  Even with a good sized shoulder, we could feel the tractor trailers speed by.  The landscape we passed had many buttes and wide open country side.  Our camping site in Makoshika State Park is surrounded by foothills.  We really feel like we are in the wild west.
