Aug 27, Day 74, KOA, West Glacier, MT

Today was a layover day.  After laundry we cycled back to West Glacier and then to Apgar Village.  We had fun walking through the gift shops and seeing what the towns had to offer.   Huckleberry is very popular in this area.  They put it in everything from jam to syrup to candy.  We enjoyed huckleberry ice cream as we sat by Lake McDonald in Apgar Village.  The nights have been getting down into the 40s and Laura woke up freezing.   She purchased a long sleeve shirt so she can sleep with an additional layer on at night.  The KOA park not only has a pool but two hot tubs and two saunas.  Of course,  Laura had to try them all.  It was a nice day to relax before hitting the trail tomorrow. Also, at our map meeting,  we were told that our route through the Cascades has been closed again due to wildfires.   A decision will have to be made in the next 4 days if we are going to take a detour.
