After over 3 months literally on the road we are returning to The Villages. Flew out of Seattle with a connection in Denver to a warm and wet Orlando.
As much fun as the trip was, it is good to be back home in The Villages.
Sept 13, Sheraton Four Points, Des Moines, WA
Today was a travel day. We took a taxi to get to a Belair Shuttle stop near the ferry. From there we changed vehicles in Burlington so we could get to SEATAC airport. Unfortunately our bus driveŕ side swiped a parked bus, while parking, and caused significant damage to the bus. No one was hurt and we were able to go on our way. At SEATAC we boarded the Sheraton hotel shuttle. We will be leaving the hotel at 5:30 am tomorrow morning so we can get to the airport for our 8:00 am flight. We will connect in Denver and hopefully arrive in Orlando around 9:00 pm.
Sept 12, Ship Harbor inn, Anacortes, WA
Today was our first day after the tour. We hopped a ferry over ro San Juan Island. It is a nice little town that unfortunately had too many closed stores and restaurants. It was either the wrong day or time of day for us to get service. We were able to find a couple of choices for lunch which were adequate. We also toured a whale museum. All in all a nice day of leisure and rest.
Sept 11, Day 89, Ship Harbor Inn, Anacortes, WA
We made it. We left Burlington as a group and made our way to Anacortes. There was a brief stop for a tour at Carin Spring Mills, a flour mill. The owner is a friend of Monte, our leader. The mill produces flour, without preservatives, from local farms. After a stop at an Anacortes bakery, we made our way to Washington Park and the Pacific ocean. We were met with friends and family of the tour team who cheered our arrival. It was a great feeling to achieve our goal after 89 days and 4,300 miles. Tonight we are staying at the Ship Harbor Inn in Anacortes.
