We sailed into Juneau around 10 am. That gave us time to attend 8 am mass and have a leisurely breakfast in the dining room. Our excursion took us into another portion of the Tongass rain forest. We had a hike with a photographer guide who showed us great vantage points in the forest and then at the Mendenhall Glacier. We then boarded the Ranger, a whale watching boat. On board we viewed two glaciers from the water, Eagle glacier and Humphrey glacier. We then went on the hunt for whales and saw several humpback whales, including a 6 month old that breached in front of us. The weather improved through the day but never topped 55 but at least the rain was held to a minimum. After dinner we enjoyed watching comedian Johnny Cardinale perform. Our next port of call is Skagway, where Jack London got his inspiration for Call of the Wild.
