Today was mostly a travel day from Homer to Anchorage, a four hour drive. We stopped at a couple of overlooks but the big stop was at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. There we found many animals that are being rescued from any one of a number of mishaps. The center is also a breeding ground for the Wood bison which evolved to become separate from the more common Plains bison. The Wood bison is an endangered species and is found only in Alaska. By late afternoon, we arrived in Anchorage and checked in to Sustina Place, our bed and breakfast for the evening. Sustina Place was originally a three family home that was converted into a bed and breakfast 26 years ago. It is a beautiful home with a view of Sustina Mountain. Tomorrow we plan a morning bike ride before leaving for our next destination, Talkeetna.
