Today was a day at sea. We had a leisurely day to enjoy the ship. The day was cool in the 50s but not that we are acclimated to cooler weather we sat outside on lounge chairs to enjoy the view. There was a polar bear challenge that we enjoyed watching. Brave guests pored ice into the outside pool and then jumped in to earn a polar bear certificate. Later in the day the ship sailed into Disenchantment Bay and up to Hubbard Glacier. The bay got that name from explorers that were hoping to find the infamous Northwest Passage but never found it. Instead they found a hugh glacier filling the bay. They named the galcier after Gardiner Hubbard who was the first president of the National Geographic Society. The galcier is the largest tidewater galcier in North America and it is still growing. Where it meets the bay, it is 350 feet above sea level and extends another 250 feet below sea level. It is 6 miles wide and 75 miles deep. This evening we attended a dance production and then moved on to the Rolling Stone Lounge where we danced to a live band playing 70s music. Tonight was the first night that we looked out out window at 11:30 pm and saw darkness and not twilight. Tomorrow is another day at sea.

I love the champagne toast! The glacier mountain seem like loud silence. Beautiful.
