Last night I witnessed a rather strange event. While looking out our back window I saw a moose walking along the shoreline. Soon several and than many people started coming out of the hotel and the surrounding cabins. There were so many people that the moose panicked and then jumped into the river. The fast moving current brought him into the center of the river as the moose just looked ahead. Downstream the moose was able to stand and then moved to the island across from the hotel.
This morning we left Talkeetna and drove for several hours to Denali and the Visitor Center. After that, we drove into the Canyon, a small strip of stores and restaurants in downtown Denali. It has a boardwalk in front of the stores. The boardwalk is uneven and has boards missing nails every few feet. Still it was a good way to spend time waiting for on room at the Grizzly Bear Resort. The resort has several buildings with rooms, several cabins and even a laundromat. Our room is modest, with wood paneling and no internet service. Tomorrow we plan to hike some Denali trails and take a bus tour into the park.
