Today was one of our longer days at 74 miles plus another 2 or 3 miles thanks to a detour. The skies were bright and clear, no evidence of the smoke from yesterday. We crossed into Illinois and gained an hour as we crossed into the Central time zone. We are staying at a city park in the town of Ashkum. Certainly the highlight of the day was visiting with our friend Mike Lambert. He owned and managed grain elevators for more than four decades. It was absolutely amazing to hear how sophisticated the business of grain elevators is.
