We woke up to an overcast sky after a very windy night. Gusts up to 25 mph shook our tent through the night. The wind was out of the northwest. Our route was southwest along the Maumee River so the wind hit us at an angle all morning. Luckily the wind dissipated as the day went on. We took our breaks at parks and a convenient cemetery. At one stop we struck up a conversation with a man driving a truck with bee boxes. He had many biking questions for us as he is a budding cyclist. He collects bee boxes and takes them to a plant to process the honey. They are able get the bees to flee the boxes before loading them. He said his territory is about the size of Connecticut. Since it was only a 53 mile day we were in camp by 1:00. Laura had time to enjoy the camp pool. The day became sunny and we really enjoyed the breeze in camp.
