This morning started with an unpleasant surprise as someone from the city of Kettle Falls locked the bathrooms near our campsite. We fanned out, scurrying for the woods, gas station and a nearby grocery store to find relief. Today was only 43 miles but it was a tough ride do to the 4,500 ft of elevation gain. We crossed the Columbia River and then had a 21 mile climb to Sherman Pass at 5,575 ft. It was 6 miles of down hill at a 6% grade. Laura is becoming a speed demon on the downhills. She says it is exhilarating. We also saw many downed trees from previous fires. We are camping at the Ferry County Campground tonight.
