June 26 Paradox Lake Campground, Paradox, NY

We woke up to a cloudy sky which soon gave way to sunshine.  We took a quick stop in Middlebury to see a waterfall then made our way through beautiful farm country.  We said our goodbye to Vermont but not before turning around and taking a picture of the Welcome to Vermont sign.  Due to a detour we missed a Vermont welcome sign a few days ago. We stepped on the ferry at Larrabee Point in Shoreham, Vt and crossed Lake Champlain to Ticonderoga, NY.  There we started a long uphill climb over a 1,500 ft hill.  Laura had problems with dehydration and cramping but was able to tough it out. Our last hurdle was getting into the NY state campground.  The reservations were made by Adventure Cycling in Montana.  They were refusing to let us in unless the people who made the reservation were here to check us in.  After half an hour of back and forth they finally relented and let us in.  We made it into the campground in time to set up before a strong thunderstorm hit.  The sun came back out but just to be sure dinner will be served under a canopy tonight.
