June 25 Riverbend Campground, Middlebury, Vt

Today started out as a beautiful sunny day.   It is day 11 of our adventure.  Only 78 days left. Right at the start we were rerouted by a structure fire.   About 7.5 miles into the route I suffered my 4th flat of the trip.  We were shuttled to Green Mountain bike shop in Rochester, Vt.  We were lucky that they were open on Sunday.  We arrived before the store opened and helped them set out bikes for the day.  I hoped to have my wheel replaced but they did not have one that would fit.  The owner/mechanic doubled taped the rim and added some sealant.  It held for the 30 or so miles  (and 3,000 plus feet of elevation) to camp.  Hopefully it will hold for the rest of the trip.  We heard music so we stopped at a park that was having a Pride festival. The last few miles turned into torture as we took a trail through the woods.  It turned out to be a muddy slog over roots and rocks.  We hurried through the trail as the woods were swarming with mosquitoes.  The Rivers Bend campground is nicely set up with electricity and showers.  It is situated on Otter Creek near where it hits the New Haven River.  A nice thunderstorm cooled things down.  Lucky we had a Pavillion to cook under.
