This morning we slept in until 10 am (4 am eastern). As we walked through the lobby, the manager approached us and said the restaurant had been waiting to serve us breakfast. We were the only ones in the restaurant since it doesn't open until 11 for lunch. There was one table set up for two with a fruit plate with bananas, oranges, apples, grapes and a nectarine. There was also bread with several types of spreads such as choclate and jellies. Soon they brought us ham and cheese omlets. They made us feel special. Across from the hotel is a contemporary bridge with tapered steps, a mesh net on one side for relaxing and seeing down to the water and about a dozen stools to sit and enjoy the view.
Across the bridge was a market place of vendors selling their local goods. There was a large variety of fruits, vegetables, meats, oils, liquors, clothing, pottery, jewelery, etc. After the market we toured the fortress Kamerlengo built in the 14th century after the Venetian invasion. We aĺso toured the Museum of Sacred Art, the Church of St Barbara and the Cathedral of St Lawrence. Tĥe cathedral bell tower is 47 meters tall with a countless number of steps. We braved the steps and enjoyed amazing views of Trogir and could even see Split in the distance. We returned to our hotel for dinner and went for a waterside walk to view the sunset. We enjoyed a few minutes of a local soccer match also. One nice surprise was seeing our ship, The YOLO, in port. We will board it tomorrow.
