Today was an adventurous day for us. Laura found a challenging trail which started in Palisades Tahoe which was formerly named Squaw Valley, site of the 1960 winter Olympics. The distance from the Olympic village to the top of the ski mountain was about 5 miles and over 2,000 feet of elevation. The trail meandered through forests and fields of granite boulders. We spent a fair amount of time on our hands and knees scrambling over rock. Fortunately the weather cooperated, giving us overcast skies and 60 degree temperatures all day. Our goal was to reach the top of the mountain where we could ride a tram back down to the village. There was a nice treat for us at the top. A small Olympic museum that had a variety of sporting equipment used in the 1960 winter Olympics. There was a winners platform where Laura stood to collect her gold chain for the fastest grandmother to scramble up the mountain that day. We also saw the hockey rink where the US defeated the USSR in hockey. We enjoyed the scenic and relaxing tram ride back to the village. A late lunch and a shopping trip in the village completed our visit.

2000 ft...Gold metal, for sure!! It is so different to see mountains, brown and huge rocks. 60 degrees...still 90 today. I am so exto be seeing all your adventures!
