August 8, 2024 Charlevoix

Today was our longest day, cycling over 76 miles.  It was also our most enjoyable day.  The weather was perfect and the route was very scenic.  We traveled a variety of roads and paths.  One stop was the Legs Innand its beautiful gardens. It has a Polish restaurant manned by students brought in from Poland to cook authentic meals.  Next we cycled " Tunnel of Trees".  It was a narrow road, heavily wooded and full of shade.  The road was rather hilly with many twists and turns but quiet and peaceful. Farther down the road was the town of Harbor Springs, a lakeside community with large beautiful homes.  One mishap was a routing mistake the made us climb a 300 ft hill only to go a short distance before we descended back to our starting elevation.   The best SAG stop of the tour was at Big Rock point, we had shade and a great view of the water, although we never did see a big rock.   Our camping is at Charlevoix High School which has modern showers and plenty of bathrooms.  Tomorrow we cycle to our final destination,  Traverse City.

Beautiful ride! It does look peaceful. And the weather seems ideal. Enjoy...still triple digit heat here.
